BFFs

At the Dinosaur museum a few weeks ago Sadie and Claire really wanted their pictures taken in the photo booth. Claire kept lamenting the fact that she hadn't brought her money. Meredith convinced them it was just as good if she took a few pictures with her camera. 

Maxfields

At the beginning of November Weston and Meredith came out to visit us. It was fun to have visitors at our new house. Poor Wes never warmed up to any of the adults, but he sure loved Sadie. Maybe I should say poor Meredith because she just never got a break. Weston only wanted her. I was tired and just coming out of the first trimester haze of sickness so I was pretty lame. We did manage to do a few fun things.

Dinosaur Museum
We spent a morning at the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. Always a fun activity.
 









BYU Basketball
We attended one of Daniel's games. Sadie got to do the chicken dance on the court with the cheerleaders. She is the one with her back to the camera in the gray sweater, next to the cheerleader kneeling.The kids discovered they could run to the top of the stairs and then run around the top of the arena. So that was fun.

Mostly we just stuck to our house and let the kids play. Sadie generally treated Weston like he was a baby and tried to carry him around a lot.


And then Elise tried to carry him.
The kids enjoyed lots of coloring and painting...

....as well as a few shows. Sadie spent a lot of time in this "pirate girl" costume that Meredith brought her, along with a bunch of other dress-ups for Christmas.


By the end of the week my girls influence started to show in Weston when he played with this princess for a little while.


Sometimes it just seems unfair that we don't get to live by most of our family.
I can't wait to visit the Maxfields in Minnesota. Summer 2015?

Some women are dripping with diamonds, some women are dripping with pearls...

.....look at what I'm dripping with- little girls!

If you know what movie/song these lines are from then there is a good chance you are surrounded by little girls as well. 

Nielson offspring #3 will be another girl. 

I won't lie. I was really really hoping for a boy; however, I was actually more disappointed when Elise was a girl because I was convinced she was a boy. This time I wanted a boy, but I didn't think it was a boy. 

Girls are just our thing I guess. Good thing our first two girls are pretty cool. If we could get a combo of the best parts of both our current girls? Even better.

Now I will spend the next 5 months worrying that she inherited Daniel's hook on the bridge of her nose. Sure hope not.

Here's a quick breakdown of what we currently know about girlie #3:

-she is due on May 6th. I am really hoping she'll cooperate with a late April birth date.

-her existence has resulted in my worst pregnancy, by far. Hopefully most of the terribleness is behind me.

-she is tricky. She evaded having her heartbeat recorded until 16 weeks. This resulted in me having an ultrasound at 12 weeks, when my doctor was fairly sure I was having a miscarriage. No miscarriage; just a perfectly healthy and sneaky 12 week old fetus who couldn't escape the sound waves of the ultrasound machine.

-we are pretty much set with baby stuff. My cheap side is happy about that.

-Sadie really really really wanted her to be a girl. She is thrilled about the baby. She frequently touches my belly and asks me thoughtful questions like, "is the baby ticklish?", "what do you think her favorite color is?", "is your stomach going to keep getting bigger until it blows up?" and finally, her favorite, "but how does the baby come out?". After she asked me that 5 times in 10 minutes yesterday I told her more details than just, "the mom pushes really hard and the doctor helps the baby come out." She was quiet for a few minutes and then asked, "does that hurt?" and "but what about your pee?" Then she said, "but the baby gets in your stomach with a magic spell, right?" and ran away. (By the way, we did not tell her babies are created through magic spells)

-Elise does not care about her. At all. Hopefully that changes at some point during their lives.

World Series

The Red Sox won the World Series. That was pretty great. 

For most of the playoff games we got together with the Gaines family. In fact, I think we are kind of in withdrawal after seeing them multiple times a week for dinner. My girls don't know how to eat dinner with just us. My dumb old phone couldn't capture a clear picture of the girls playing in the ottoman. Trust me, it was adorable.

Pure Awesomeness

We recently got Sadie's school pictures back. 

They are perfect.

Halloween

So we made it through the last couple weeks of October. We started the month off with a ridiculous amount of Halloween activities. Then it died down and picked back up strong at the end of October.

We carved one pumpkin. Sadie thought the pumpkin guts were gross. 

 Never got around to carving the rest of them. 

We attended Sadie's preschool Halloween party. She was happy to have a dress rehearsal with her costume. The wig was her favorite part. When we bought the wig it just happened to be the last Snow White one on display at Target that day. When a classmate of hers dressed up as Snow White but didn't have a wig, Sadie said, "It's because I got the last one!!"

 The preschool party was adorable, with cake walks, bean bag tosses, candy fishing, face painting, and more. Sadie got cotton candy, which is always the coolest thing in the world to her. 

Which brings us to Halloween. Sadie whined for 2 hours straight before trick-or-treating and I really didn't want to let her go at all. Daniel talked her (and me) off the ledge and convinced her to get into costume. I let Elise choose whatever dress-up she wanted and she chose Tiana. She actually told me all month she wanted to be Tiana, but I didn't believe she'd stick with it. 

 I neglected to take any photos while we were trick-or-treating. Sadie was a pro at it, but it took Lou a few houses to get it down. At the second house she tried to trade them the candy in her bucket for new candy. She was excited when she found out she didn't have to give people candy in order to get more. We made it to about 18 houses before both girls were spent. 

Sadie chowed down on candy when we got home. She was much more excited about giving candy out to trick-or-treaters than receiving it. She would sprint to the door and excitedly tell everyone they could have 2 pieces. Our neighbors told us to expect 300-400 kids. We got about 100. So who wants to come eat the extra 200 pieces of candy???
