August events

I have no pictures.
I lost my phone in Madrid. I have no idea where it is. Boo. The thing I am most upset about is pictures and videos. I think I only lost stuff from the past 2 weeks and luckily we were already mostly using Daniel's phone for trip pictures.

For the first half of August I think we had some fun, went swimming, ate food and adored Camille.
Sadie had her much-anticipated and feared 5-year doctor appointment, complete with Kindergarten shots.  She is really tall and relatively average weight.
Then Carolyn came a few days before our big trip. I will blog separately about Mimi's visit and our vacation.

Sadie it's your birthday- happy birthday Sadie

So, as usual, Daniel was traveling on Sadie's birthday. My mom left the day before as well, so it was just me and the girls. Sadie woke up and immediately asked to open a present, which I obliged.
Present #1 was a Frozen watch from Nana & Papa.
Sadie wears it every day, although she gets nervous about any kind of water since I told her she couldn't wear it during her birthday party because the water would ruin it.

Then it was off to gymnastics class, where both girls did much better than the first week.

Sadie then chose Old McDonald's for lunch, which I was happy to say yes to. As we were about to leave the McDonald's playplace there was a crazy downpour for about 1/2 hour. When we got home the mulch in the flower bed by the house was completely washed out and down the driveway. Don't worry, I left it all and allowed Daniel to clean it up when he got back the next day.

We picked up some ice cream cupcakes from Coldstone that night and Lou and I sang to Sadie.

On July 31 we had Sadie's 5th birthday party. This was our first real party. In the past we have invited friends to join us at a splash pad, brought some pizza and a cake, and called it good. Sadie talked for months about a Frozen party so we went with it. We rented a bounce house with a water slide attached and had a few other small games. It was fun, but I don't think I will be doing another big party for a couple years.
Props to my talented friend Margaret for designing this invite for me like it was no big deal.
Marg, you are so amazing. Thank you.
The cake. I am a big proponent of just putting toys on the cake. The castle was created by frosting a small plastic toy castle we have. I am lazy.
The games that I created from posters. On the Elsa poster I put 4 snowflake targets on the corners of the poster and had kids shoot them with water guns. Then we had them throw water balloons through the holes in Olaf. The 100 water balloons were gone in about 5 minutes.

My neighbor Sheri manned the shave ice station and probably made 50+ of those things. Kids would get one, eat half of it, set it down and then go get another one.
You can see Sadie entering the bounce house.
By the way, I would recommend Plan-it Rentals to anyone- they were super easy to work with and reasonably priced.

Nana na na nana na na, nana na na nana

100 points to whoever can identify what song I was attempting to type out in the title.
(Hint: think Will Smith)
Nana came to visit for a week. Daniel was gone the entire time she was here. We needed her.
Enjoy a plethora of pictures.

Chick-fil-A

Experiment day

Children's theater production of Cinderella

The fish with 9 lives. I found her floating in her mason jar fishbowl and assumed she was dead. I thought I saw her gills moving a little so I scooped her out and put her in some clean water. She still wasn't moving much so I texted Daniel a picture of Sadie looking at what we thought was the dead fish.
An hour later I saw that she was swimming a little so I cleaned out the mason jar really well and stuck her back in. What do you know? She is still happily swimming around almost 2 weeks later.

Nail day. Nana took us all to get our nails done. Elise held so still while they painted her nails, but then kept moving when they were drying.

Trip to Manila Creek pond. My mom spent the whole time swimming and playing in the sand with the girls while I relaxed in the shade with Millie.

Dance party

An attempted hike. We played around at my cousin's cabin for an hour before starting the hike. Then we walked about a mile around the lake to the trailhead. Elise was done after about 25 feet. My mom and Lou turned around and Sadie, Camille and I continued. Sadie slipped and got a nasty bruise/cut on her knee but she still persevered. About 10 minutes later Sadie started whining to go back to the car. I figured it wasn't worth it so we booked it back down. We actually beat Nana and Elise back to the car because we went the other way around the lake.

At the new Cubby's in Lehi where my mom was telling "stories". The girls begged my mom to tell them made-up stories. Elise liked to hear the same story about princess Louie and the dragon with Prince Daniel saving her, but Sadie liked to hear new stories each time. The girls listened closely.

Millie Moo getting smothered by her sisters. I had to literally pull Sadie off of her because she wouldn't let go.

Lindon Pool with the obligatory dance party after we were done swimming. My girls do this each time we go swimming here. Sadie used some of her birthday money to buy cotton candy. Yuck.

Thanks for coming Mom! I really appreciate you spending a 5th week away from Dad so I could have some help. It was wonderful to have you.

Three Short Months

So I started this post about a week before Millie's 3 month date and she was still the sweetest baby ever. In the past 2 weeks she has gotten slightly more fussy, less smiley and the past few days she hasn't slept as great. I can't claim she is quite as perfect, but she is still pretty darn awesome and I am just as smitten with her. She constantly smiles and coos. She will quickly stop crying if I pick her up. She usually sleeps.

Developments and happenings in the past month:
-much stronger neck. Owns tummy time. Rolls over both directions, but when she is tired she just puts her head down and cries. Rolls from her stomach onto her side.

-grew out of most of her 0-3 month clothes

-made some awesome faces and wore some awesome outfits picked out by her sisters

-Smiled, smiled, and smiled some more. Sometimes when she gets fussy if you just go give her some eye contact she will light up and be satisfied for a while. She also giggles and gets hiccups every time she giggles.

-slept
-continued to prefer sleeping with her neck back. She has loved to sleep like this since birth.

-got crazy cradle cap. She actually scratches it herself and always has visible flakes. Maybe my other babies had this as well but since Millie is basically bald with a tiny bit of blonde hair, her scalp is very exposed. It looks especially bad after a bath

-welcomed us all to lay by her.
