Family Pictures

We took family pictures on Saturday morning up in Provo Canyon. We figured Sadie is happiest early in the morning and the light would be great. The canyon colors were gorgeous and the light was beautiful, but it was freezing! Sadie's little face turned bright red and she was shivering like crazy.

I stole these pictures from Janica's website. She also took these pictures of Sadie in May. I just took a screen shot of the webpage, so the colors don't look as vibrant and Janica says the colors are even more gorgeous on the original shots. I cannot wait to get the CD of all of them!

If you want an awesome deal on pictures (family, engagements, newborn, maternity, etc) contact Janica through her website here. She told me she is running a fall special where she'll do a 45 minute session and give you a CD with all of the images for just $75.
Janica is super easy to work with & we will definitely be having her take more pictures for us in the future!

Getting Dressed

Sadie has a new obsession: shoes. She is frequently wearing only a diaper and shoes. The first thing she did this morning after I got her out of bed and changed her diaper was to bring me her new silver shoes to put on.

This is her before-church outfit yesterday morning. She brought me these cowboy boots to put on. They actually do fit her but when I took them off, her feet were reddish-brown. They used to be bookends on the bookshelf in her room but now they are functional shoes.

Today after lunch she was going back and forth between our room and hers as I was doing laundry. First she brought me this Disney princess nightgown (size 3T) that I just bought on clearance. I obliged her and put it on.
Then she got into her old shoes and insisted on trying them on. Notice her red shoes in the pictures above. Those are size 3-6 months and I shoved her toes into the end and let her walk on top of the strap. She waddled around in them for 5 minutes and then threw a tantrum. In this picture I tried to convince her to put on these silver shoes that actually fit her, but she wasn't convinced. She proceded to bring me all of her old shoes and throw tantrums when they wouldn't go on her feet.

I hid all of her old shoes high away from her view and I will continue to hide any pair she grows out of.

Exciting Happenings

On Saturday we watched the Texas-Texas Tech football game and who do we see flash across our television?

None other than our very own Whitney Nielson.

There she is in all her glory, supporting her Red Raiders, getting her guns up.

Sadie also supported Tech with her Red Raiders onesie last weekend.
You'll notice she is carrying a toothbrush. We went to the dentist last week and were guilted into making sure we brush Sadie's 3 1/2 teeth each night before bed. She is in love with her toothbrush- so much that she sleeps with it each night. No comment about the headband she insisted on wearing.

I also turned 26; officially closer to 30 than 20. We went to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate. Sadie was terrible. She screamed and threw stuff on the floor until we let her out of the highchair.

Content with herself that she got out of the chair

We got smart and put her in a booster seat. She immediately shook her head "no" when we put her in it. Here she is, mid-head-shake.

When we finished eating we let her out again.

Sadie seems to be back in a deer-in-the-headlights phase for pictures.

After dinner we walked around the mall and got Sadie some new shoes. I guess that's what birthdays become as a parent. I'm alright with it though- they are some really cute shoes.

PS- After looking at these 2 pictures of Sadie with us, who do you think she looks like now? You can refer to this post to see baby pictures of us.

A Play Date

Sadie's friend Ella came over to play last week.
First they dined on McDonald's together.

They laughed.

They discussed serious matters.

After dinner they moved from the bar stools to the kitchen table. Who knows why. They don't have to have a reason. They do what they want.

Then Ella got a phone call.

But apparently it was for Sadie.

Finally, they moved to the sweet cardboard house made from Sadie's new car seat. When they were playing after dinner Sadie violated all kinds of personal space rules. For some reason she insisted on touching Ella or sitting right next to/on top of Ella at all times. Ella didn't mind as long as Sadie didn't take her toys.

And no, Sadie never put any clothes on.

Mice?

Look at this box? Could we possibly have mice at our house?

Nope...just this little critter with 4 teeth.

We now keep the pantry door tightly closed at all times.

Visitors visitors visitors

Sadie's grandma (Daniel's mother) and papa (my father) came to visit us. Carolyn was here mostly for some good Sadie time and my dad was mainly here to help my grandmother move from Malad to Bountiful, but he got a couple days of Sadie time too.
Sadie loved all the attention.

She read lots of books with Grandma. Well, I guess I should say she read a few books lots of times. She tends to pick out the same books over and over.

Grandma Nielson made her a little footstool for the bathroom but for now Sadie just sits on it. Usually while watching Baby Signing Time

We went to lunch and Sadie threw a big tantrum in the highchair so I let her hang out by me. She played with these utensils for a long time.

Then Grandma started feeding her corn chowder and Sadie just about died and went to heaven. She ate at least half of it (after eating her own lunch).

When my dad had to leave the airport Sadie was distraught.
Not about my dad leaving, but about the fact that she was torn from her delicious chowder.

Later that day we attempted to get a nice picture of Sadie with her grandmother. (That Winger's sign is the perfect backdrop)

But then Sadie got an important phone call that she just had to take. Yes, she is really pretending to be on the phone. She does this constantly.

Our house feels a little empty without visitors so you guys will just have to come back. How about next week?
