Budding Photog

Sadie is really into taking pictures. At the beginning of March I transferred more than 50 pictures taken by her in 5 days. Here are a random collection taken from the past 2 months- I had hundreds to choose from- not exaggerating. 

She walks around the house snapping shots of whatever inspires her. 

My favorite part is when she yells at Elise for 10 minutes to get her to look at the camera, but then when she finally does, Sadie takes so long situating the camera, getting her fingers out of the way, and pushing the button hard enough, that Elise usually isn't looking anymore.

One night Hunter and Sadie took turns snapping photos of each other.

Nana & Papa

 

Both my parents came into town (separately, but overlapping a couple days) in February. I love that Sadie is old enough that she remembers and loves my parents, even though they live across the country. 

While my parents were here we celebrated my mom's birthday, went on a date, ate multiple family meals with my 3 siblings that live here, went shopping at the outlets in Park City all day, and just hung out.

My mom watched the girls a few days while I was working.

I love the random pictures that show up on the camera from Sadie lately. 

 

This picture showed up after my dad watched the girls one day. I laughed my head off. 

I appreciate that Sadie documents her babysitters for us.

I just love seeing my girls interact with their grandparents. It's the best.

 I rarely watch videos on other people's blogs, but here is one of Elise laughing with my dad- complete with the Doug John signature laugh.

The day my dad was leaving he ran to Target to pick up some stuff and came back with this:

One of the softest, giant teddy bears ever. It is seriously soft. Sadie gives it lots of hugs. And time-outs. Her toys are so disobedient.

The Real Home Stretch

I went all out for Daniel's last home game- putting the girls in matching UVU shirts. I was shocked when Sadie obliged my request. She is so particular about clothes these days that I couldn't believe it when she just happily put on the shirt.

I like this picture because it looks like the girls are having a real conversation. 

Louie's saying "Have you tried these pretzels? They're amazing. The perfect amount of salt for me to suck off." Sadie says, "Of course! Do you think I'm some kind of amateur?"

Don't you love their fluorescent wolverine shirts? 

(BTW is blogger spellcheck messing with me? Who knew fluorescent is spelled f-l-u-o and not f-l-o-u?)

Two little girls, very excited to finally get to talk to dad

Daniel is in Chicago for the Great West conference tourney this week. The LAST road trip of the season. Phew. Each season seems to go by more quickly. I'm grateful for that.

Deca-Louie

She's 10 months. Double digits, baby! 12 months will be my last monthly post. I have really enjoyed being able to look back at previous months and see huge changes in Elise. Kinda disappointed I didn't do this with Sadie.

Moving on...Elise is just the funniest. I have a feeling that will be one of her roles in our family- to bring the funny. Pressure is on now, little girl, you better have me laughing every day of the rest of your life. She loves to clap and wave. Louie regularly pulls out chunks of Sadie's hair. I need to take a picture of one of the fistfuls some time. She makes "dadada, mamama, and nanana" sounds, along with high-pierced shrieks. Her crazy inhaled laughing reminds me a lot of my cousin Anne. Army crawling is still her mode of transportation. I am starting to wonder if she will just go from that to walking. Lately she loves bananas a whole lot and gets frustrated when she can't get a piece off her tray. Those bananas are really quite slippery.

Probably the biggest change from last month is that Elise climbs all over everything. Here's what she did shortly after Sadie laid down next to her for pictures.

 Then here are a few pictures I took over the next 15 minutes:

She's kind of a climbing Godzilla. She just goes from spot to spot terrorizing, leaving a path of destruction behind her, only moving on when she's satisfied there is nothing else to be thrown down. Yesterday she attempted to pull the bluray player off the shelf.

Sadie's just saying...

Typical mom blogger alert! Sadie has done/said some hilarious things lately and I need to share it with the world.

1- Sadie occasionally has issues with going to bed and staying in bed. The other night Daniel was watching tv after the girls were in bed (I wasn't home) when he thought he heard Sadie's door open. He muted the tv and listened, but didn't hear anything. All of the sudden he heard a little Sadie sneeze and then "dangit!". He walked up the stairs in time to see Sadie dash behind the laundry door. When he approached her hiding spot she gave him a big cheesy grin and said, "More prayers, dad?" (Her default request when she doesn't want to get in trouble)

2. Lately Sadie's response when she gets even slightly hurt is to say, "Let's go to the doctor. Right now. She'll fix it." I guess my kisses aren't cutting it anymore. But it is kind of funny, considering Sadie has only been to the doctor twice in the past 2 years for something other than a check-up.

3. A couple nights ago Sadie was arranging all of her Little People animals that came with the Noah's Ark and various other sets by animal type. Once she got the two or three animals together she would make one of them say 'I love my family!" and then move on to arranging the next animal.

4. Sadie is normally fairly reserved around people she doesn't know. We went on a walk the other night and Daniel stopped by a neighbor's house for a minute. At first Sadie said she wanted to stay in the stroller on the sidewalk by me. After Daniel went in the house she changed her mind and I got her out and told her she needed to go up and knock by herself if she wanted to go in. She marched herself right up and knocked, went in the house, chatted the neighbors' ears off (according to Daniel) and then walked back out and told me "I'm back, Mom! I gave Sister Hahne fives."

5. Sadie's favorite song is "Hallelujah" from Shrek. She tells me every Sunday after church that they sang it in Nursery. The Nursery leaders have confirmed that is not true, but she insists that it is. Sadie singing the first couple lines "Say theww is sacwud chowud, David played and uh pleased da Lowud" (look up the lyrics of the song if you don't understand it) is one of the cutest things ever.

6. One of Sadie's favorite things to do while pretending with her toys is put them in time out. Usually she makes them face a wall- which I don't do to her, but maybe I should start.

7. When Sadie doesn't want to do things (like taking off her princess nightgowns to put on clothes) she will scream at me "No, thanks!".

8. Sometimes Sadie likes to run around throwing bouncy balls and yelling funny things. Usually she says "hey, come back here little fella!" but the other day she yelled, "what the heck?" which then turned into "what the dangit?" Where do you even come up with that?

9. Elise had some explosive poop the other day. Sadie walked over when I was changing the diaper and gasped, "Louie barfed out her bum!"

10. I was feeding Elise some of the disgusting whole-meal-combo baby food (something like chicken with vegetables) and Sadie wanted some. Sadie legitimately enjoys most of the fruit baby foods and regularly eats them. We argued about it for a bit as I tried to convince her it was going to be disgusting; I even had her smell it to see. I relented and after she literally gagged it down she said, "Mmm. That tastes so good, Mom! You want some?"

I just don't feel much like blogging this week, but here is photographic evidence of Sadie's craziness.

It may look candid, but she posed like this for a good 30 seconds before Tyler took the picture.

I like her.

Speaking of Tyler... another Nielson has vacated Utah in favor of Texas. He left today for Austin.
