Summer is Here: Sadie in June

Here is what Sadie did in June

Dance camp. It was SO cute. They went every day for a week and had a performance on the last night. She went with her friends Bentley and Karissa.

One day when I thought she was coming down with pinkeye but luckily it was just an irritated eye. A few hours later the redness was gone

BYU basketball camp. Note that she is dribbling with her left hand here. She has gotten much better at basketball in the last year. She enjoys it, but isn't as excited about basketball as she is about dance and gymnastics, but once she is playing she loves it.

Officially diagnosed with vitiligo. It is an auto immune disease that results in her body attacking healthy pigment. Sadie has several small patches of white skin that I noticed last year. Then a couple months ago I noticed she had some patches of white hair on her head. That's when I brought her in. It is the same thing Michael Jackson had that lead to him bleaching his skin. Sadie isn't bothered by her current white patches at all. At first we were treating them with a steroid cream to see if the pigment would return but it took too much effort and she doesn't care. We might try it again when summer is over.

Sadie and her second cousin Jack Blood

Swimming lessons. Sadie improved a ton in her 2 sessions

Just acting like a 15-year-old. Too cool for school

Summer gymnastics. Sadie has moved up to the advanced class with some of her friends. She has learned cool things and will soon surpass my level of ability. She is dying to be able to do a back handspring. She isn't too close yet, but she is working on it.

Summer is Here: Camille in June

Here's what the Millie Monster did in June

REALLY enjoyed her grapes. While she was eating these she kept saying "yummmm"

Looking adorable in the backyard. She was actually asking me if she could sit on my "bap" (lap) while I swing on our swingset.

This is her pretending to sleep face

The little monster scaled the pantry shelves to procure herself some apple sauce. I was in the kitchen with her but didn't see her do it. I heard the box of applesauce hit the ground but didn't walk over until Millie was just getting back to the floor. Who is this girl? I was equal parts impressed and annoyed

Playing with her second cousin Clara Anderson when we had dinner together one Sunday. They took turns driving themselves around our backyard concrete slab.

 General craziness

Sticking food in her ears. What else?

Helping me taste test some frostin

Pushing her second cousin Audrey in the stroller because when you are 2 you can do stuff like that

 Goofy in her hat

 Giving big hugs to dad

Wearing her love of Chick fil a sauce. Also, that face on the right is one of her signature poses. Trademark it.

Finally, sitting with a forced friend Landon. I think they look like siblings and they technically could be since they are about 10 months apart.

Summer is Here: Elise in June

Here is what Lou was up to in June

Elise-Mom date. We went to Black Sheep Cafe where Elise did some awesome coloring and told me about her life in detail. While we were eating I was telling Elise about the amazing ice cream we would get after lunch. She stopped eating and told me she didn't want her quesadilla anymore. I agreed that I was done eating lunch so we packed up our food and walked next door. Rockwell Ice Cream is the real deal. One of my favorite ice cream places ever. The honeycomb ice cream is that good.

Matchy-matchy with Millie in their outfits from Mimi. Too cute

Summer book club. Elise attends weekly. Each week is a different book and they have activities and snacks that relate to the book. Her first book was called Pancakes, Pancakes and they read the book, decorated aprons, made and ate pancakes, and played some games.
The girl who runs it takes pictures throughout. I snapped this picture of Elise when we got home. She came home with some pancake mix and we made them right away. Because who doesn't love pancakes twice within a couple hours?

Her best friend Madi's birthday party.
Elise and Madi are hilarious together. Just the other day Madi literally punched Elise in the face. Don't know what exactly it was for, but I am sure it was deserved. Elise was distraught but then forgave her immediately and then went back to playing.

Popsicles with Finn. Her buddy 1 1/2 years her junior. They get along very well and Finn is not quite yet 4.

Swim lessons. Elise is such an enthusiastic student. Not necessarily a super great swimmer, but very excited about swimming.

Hanging out with Emett Faucette at his grandma's community pool.

Playing with her second cousin Sam at a family bbq

Another book club session. This book was about a bear trying to learn to be quiet enough to not wake up his baby sister....but that's all I remember. I think they went on a bear hunt, painted pictures of bears, made bear masks, and played a tip toeing games.
Elise loves that the book club is her thing that no one else is doing.

Millie Moozers

In going through my pictures from May I had a several of Millie that I wanted to share.

One day there were lots of trucks going on and off the land across the street from us as part of the road construction in the new development. Camille watched them closely for a long time from her room.

I had to wake her up from a nap and found her sleeping like this. One sock on a foot and one sock on a hand. I found her a different day with both socks on 1 foot. She likes to play for a while in bed before going to sleep and socks are just 1 way she entertains herself I guess.

We have 2 different sets of memory game cards that have our extended family on them- one for the Nielson side and one for the John side. What's funny is that we got them both as gifts from different people at the same Christmas. Camille loves to "play" memory with them. It is all due to these cards that Millie can name all of our extended family.

Tantrums have become slightly more frequent from this girl. This one made me laugh. She got mad because I chopped her avocado and she wanted them sliced. It was so ridiculous it didn't annoy me at all. I just took pictures and shared them on Instagram.

Finally, I love that Millie will go play outside by herself for long stretches of time. Especially if I put water in the water table. She carefully scoops out water and distributes it around the backyard.

Our first First Grader is done

School ended on May 27th. You can see that Sadie grew a good amount from the first to the last day by comparing where her shoulders are relative to the front door. First Grade was a great experience for Sadie. She never once told me she didn't want to go and she even cried several times during school vacations about missing her teacher and classmates. Mrs. Fanning was wonderful. The good news is that she is moving up to teach 3rd Grade next year so Sadie is set on having her in 2 years. We would all love it.
The last week of school was filled with all the fun stuff like field day, the school dance festival, and various class parties. I distinctly remember the excited feeling of cleaning out my desk at the end of a school year. For the school dance festival Sadie's grade did an adorable dance to Singin in the Rain. She is the third one from the left on this picture. I loved the kid on the right who brought a massive umbrella.

We are all proud of Sadie and can't wait to have both girls at Deerfield next year. I can't imagine having 4 hours with only Camille every day!
