Pumpkin Party

Sadie has been asking to carve pumpkins for a few weeks and we finally got around to it, 2 days before Halloween. The girls ate dinner and watched Daniel disgustedly as he pulled out pumpkin guts.

 This is as close as either of them willingly got to the guts and seeds. Lou cried for 15 minutes after Daniel took her hand and barely grazed some slimy stuff. Such a wimp.

 Elise chose a ghost and Sadie wanted a jack-o-lantern, which, in her mind meant it had to be a traditional pumpkin face. She designed it and I drew and carved. Daniel did the ghost. The girls were so pleased with themselves.

 Then we had a dance party on the front porch for 20 minutes as it got dark.

It's Autumn Time

Last week the girls spent a long time playing in the fallen leaves, with the promise I would rake them into a pile later that day.

Well, later that day became 4 days later when Sadie had a friend over. I raked up everything and they had so much fun playing.

Birdie Pjs: The Next Generation

Elise is 3 1/2 and Camille is 5 months. We barely got a picture while they both fit into them. Elise's are too small (and falling apart). I may hold onto the bigger pair just in case we end up with a 4th girl.
Lou really likes to squeeze Millie's cheeks together and yell "funny face!"

Sadie was very jealous of Millie and Lou's matching pj's and cried that she wasn't included. The next day Sadie picked out coordinating outfits for herself and Mills:

Jaker's

Over fall break we took our annual trip to Jaker's in Springville with the Faucettes. They have added a few things this year. Camille and Treyson enjoyed their first time in the corn pit.

Elise fell asleep on the way there and ended up kind of grumpy so she stuck with me most of the time while the older kids played.

We ate our picnic lunches and spent the longest time in the hay maze and the tube slides.

At the very end I let the girls pick out their pumpkins, which they painted as soon as we got home.

Up the Canyon

On Saturday we (and every other Utah resident, it seemed) drove up to Provo Canyon for a picnic and a hike. We met the Sullivans and the kids had a great time. The sights were gorgeous and the weather was just about perfect.

 

We just couldn't bear the thought of splitting up, so the Sullivans came over to our house afterwards for playing and pizza. Claire came in our car. We took the Alpine Loop home from Provo Canyon, which was packed with cars. One idiot in particular decided to drive it in a massive RV. If you haven't driven the Alpine Loop, it is a scenic route that connects Provo and American Fork Canyon. The road is only barely wide enough for 2 cars at some points, with one car being on the edge of a drop off. Needless to say, that RV took up more than its fair share of room.

Conference Weekend

 We had a somewhat eventful, but quiet weekend. Sadie was very tired of Conference by the end, although she seems to have a favorite in Uchtdorf. She has good taste. 

We finally set up the girls' bunk beds. They had been sleeping in the same room, but the beds function separately as twins, or together as bunks. We told them they had to be good for a few weeks and then we'd set up the beds. 

 After 1 week we are doing alright. Having some struggles getting the girls to fall asleep without being silly. Hoping it will improve.

After putting the girls to bed that night we fulfilled a dream- seeing Jim Gaffigan in person. He was hilarious. Pretty much all of his jokes were new. He did a really funny bit on Utahans and fry sauce. 

And finally, this girl. She is funny, exasperating, loud and goofy. She is not interested in being potty trained. She tells me she doesn't want to be a big girl.

We spent the weekend potty-training. (Fourth time is the charm?) On Saturday she managed to go through 5 pairs of underwear and pee in the toilet a tiny bit once. On Sunday she had 2 accidents and successfully peed 4 times. This past week it was back to pull-ups.
Can someone come potty-train her for us? I guess I am just an incompetent trainer.
