Picture Dump

We got a new camera few weeks ago so I have been taking more pictures than usual. The problem is that my old laptop at home doesn't have the ability to read the pictures for some reason.

Here is a compilation of pictures from the last couple weeks.

Sadie has actually started smiling for pictures when I ask her to (sometimes)

Sadie got a booster seat. She absolutely loves it. If I had realized how much she'd prefer this to a highchair I would have bought it a while ago. Her other new favorite thing is that black headband in her hand.

One day Sadie got tired and laid on the bottom step for a while.

The baby bump at 15 weeks- my stomach really popped last week so I am much bigger than this now.

I guess I am just so domestic- always baking- that Sadie decided to copy me and wear an oven mitt around. By the way, those crappy $5 Wal-mart Dora pajamas are her favorite.

At Daniel's game last week Sadie actually just sat on her own chair and watched for the first 15 minutes.

Then she had enough and got the trusty headband out again. She actually wore the headband to the game because I couldn't get her to leave it at home. I am sure most people think I put it on her as a nice hair accessory but it looks ridiculous because it's adult sized.

Aunt Coco

Daniel's sister Courtney came to visit us last week. Sadie calls her Coco- much easier to say than Courtney. We didn't end up doing much because Sadie got the stomach flu right after Courtney arrived and then she spent a couple days getting back to her normal self. It was great that Courtney happened to be here so I didn't have to take any time off work.

On Courtney's last day here I was determined to get out of the house for something fun.
First we went to BYU's Bean Museum.

Most of my pictures ended up something like this because Sadie could not contain her excitement.

She did pause for a moment to touch the elephant's tusks.
Unfortunately we have not been able to get it out of Sadie's head that all 4 legged animals are not dogs.

She pointed and yelled "doggie!" at everything she saw. It seems Sadie has the same interest in learning about animals I have (hardly any).

When we got up to the second floor Sadie literally just sprinted around occasionally yelling "doggie!". We let her run around the whole thing twice and then forced her back downstairs.

She sat like this looking at the bees for 5 minutes. I actually got her to say "bee" a few times.

On our way out we attempted to get a cute picture of the Nielson sibs with their favorite niece, but my brand new camera couldn't take a good picture in the strange lighting.


Then we got ice cream at the BYU Creamery.

Courtney let Sadie have lots of licks. After each lick Sadie would then reach for some of my ice cream. Sadie went back and forth mooching ice cream off both of us- she's a smart girl.

Hoarder?

This morning Daniel called me at work to ask if I knew where Sadie's brush was. I thought for a second and suggested the goldfish box. What do you know? There it was (along with other toys, toothbrushes, and cleaning products).

Sadie gathers all of the stuff she likes in 3 places:

1)the goldfish box on the first floor (currently contains: 2 toothbrushes, hair detangler spray, brush, a few cleaning products, 2 balls, refrigerator magnets, and straws)
2)the empty diaper box in her room (currently contains:Daniel's hats, her doll aptly named "baby", pajamas, and a swim diaper or two)
3)the bathtub (currently contains: all bath toys, bottles of any product (i.e. extra shampoo, lotion, perfume) she can get her hands on, and this morning- Daniel's phone)

Do we have a hoarder on our hands?

Or maybe we should stop keeping empty boxes?

(Yes, Sadie is only wearing one sock. She pulled the other one off and refused to let me put it back on)

Older Sister

This crazy older-sister-t0-be becomes more of a little girl all the time- lately this includes violence and lots and lots of whining but some cute stuff also. When we went to the Creamery for ice cream recently she insisted on sitting on the seat by herself.

Sadie had her 15 month check-up last week and she continues to be tall (82nd percentile- to Daniel's delight- this is the only thing he wants to know about from her appointments) and about average weight. I could have sworn she has packed on some pounds in the past few months, but no, up 2 pounds for a grand total of 22 1/2 pounds from her 12 month appointment.

We also experienced Sadie with the stomach flu for the first time last weekend. We ushered in Daylight Savings with chili-laden barf all over the crib. Sadie was sound asleep on top of it. Daniel let me take Sadie and get in our bed with her while he cleaned it up. Such a gentleman.

Nothing cute

In case you were wondering about the baking french fry on my stomach costume idea I mentioned the other day, yes, I am pregnant. I wracked/racked (you can spell it either way) my brain to come up with something creative and cute to let the blog-reading world know, but I am plum out of any good ideas. This kid is already getting the shaft. Oh well. I dealt with it my whole life- the hand-me-downs, the shared attention, the comparisons, the beat-downs and bossiness of older siblings, etc. He/she will get over it.

So, that all being said, it is no less exciting this time around. The fact of the matter is that we will have another person joining our family. We do realize how incredibly fortunate we are. (Also, in case you were wondering but won't ask- this is was not a surprise- it was prayed and planned for.)

This kid is already trying to be different in that I was really nauseous for the first couple months (I was rarely nauseous with Sadie). I am just about 13 weeks pregnant- due May 14th. I think I look about 17 weeks pregnant so that is just great. But you can decide for yourself.

There you have it....in May 2011 we will be a family of four.

Halloween

Here they are in all their glory

A crazy hamburger and a goofy hot dog
(I did not join in on the fast food theme- I didn't dress up, although if I had I probably would have been a short-order cook and stuck a french fry on my stomach that was "baking in the oven" or something totally original like that)

Sadie got to wear her costume many times. A few times just to play around the house. Once to show off for her parents' coworkers and the basketball team. And once to the ward Halloween party.

It's pretty safe to say that our ward Halloween party was the best night of Sadie's life. Not exaggerating one bit.

At first she stayed somewhat close to us. She'd wander off a bit and then come running back like this. Then she noticed all the other stuff going on and she took off and never looked back. Not once. She could have cared less if we were there.

She ran around the middle of the cake walk and occasionally danced.

She attempted (multiple times) to go directly for the prizes behind the partition in the ward party classic- the fishing game.

At one point Sadie noticed this baby and rocked her in the car seat for a while. If you think that baby looks huge- she isn't (at least not for her age)- she is about a month younger than Sadie. Her parents keep her in the car seat a lot- we haven't figured it out yet.

She clapped for herself when she won a costume award.

She continued to clap for herself while posing for a photo op with Daniel, who was awesome and wore his costume the whole night despite being called "big wiener" by multiple people.

Sadie grabbed herself a cupcake from the food table and took off to play some more.

We could not convince Sadie to go home. She was literally having the time of her life. She wasn't playing with other kids- she just wandered around by herself watching the games (thinking she was a part of some of them), trying to take stuff from other kids, and moving on whenever she felt like it.

When we got home we convinced Sadie to put on the hot dog costume for one more awesome picture.
